Learner bikers tour latest-Southwest Scotland
I finally started the tour yesterday. James’s bike broke down on the first day of our last attemp and now im going solo. I set off on saturday morning the 22nd August heading south west from Glasgow on the B769 passing through some nice wee Ayrshire towns Stewarton and Kilmaurs and finally Kilmarnock, where i nearly had my first accident. A car pulled out in front of me at a junction and i had to swerve and break. If it’d been raining i’d have fallen off.
From Kilmarnock i took the A96 a cracking straight road to Dumfries. As the road straightened i got up to a steady 60 mph which is near my bikes capacity. From Dumfries i went east to Lockerbie where i visited the air disaster memorial (see seperate post) and finally headed for home via the B7020 and 7078 where i met and filmed some farm people on horse and cart. I arrived home in the mid evening with more than 200 miles under my belt. Next up… The Highlands.
