Glasgow Sky Lanterns
A couple of months ago i blogged about indonesia setting a world sky lantern record. http://www.wayupnorth.tv/2009/12/09/scottish-world-record/
I quipped “We certainly couldn’t fly sky lanterns the wind would have them in the clyde”.
And thats exactly what happened! Glasgow sky lantern enthusiasts, probably inspired by the Indonesian effort, have brought chaos to our coast guards.
The wind carries the lanterns along the clyde and the coast guards mistake them for distress flares. Heres the scary part, It costs £6,000 an hour to send out a rescue helicopter! So far its happened four times and a fuck load of money has been wasted.
How can we fix this? Does anyone have any ideas how to stop this mayhem?
