The cheapest petrol in town

Its Asda in Govan.

Govan Asda are consistently the cheapest petrol station in Glasgow. Trust me on this because im addicted to looking at every petrol price sign that i pass. Fucking addicted i say!

If Marissa Millar and Maria Sharapova were walking hand in hand down Maryhill Road, id Dingy them in favour of the Maryhill road BP.

I havn’t seen a cheaper litre than £112.9 all year! Trust me! Asda in Govan are the fucking discount kings!

19 people die at The Love Parade

Fuck sake, i just heard on tv that 19 folk died in a crush at the worlds biggest rave, The Love Parade in Germany.

Ive always wanted to go to The Love Parade, but was never able to get the cash together. It looks like the problem was caused at the entry/exit point. To get in and out you have to use the same path and a contraflow of people has built up. T in the Park has the same system when you go to and from the campsite and arena.

Its a fucking shame so it is. I can only hope that all the other festivals will look at this and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

The Subway Basket

Subway are now presenting their sandwiches on a beautiful little basket.

Isn’t it just exquisite!

New T in the Park video

its not my best work, i made it quickly with pishy windows movie maker, but its well worth a watch.

top fives – most scenic football pitches

Contrary to public belief, i don’t hang around the clyde tunnel breathing heavily for no good purposes. I was on my way to football at Ibrox astro ;-)

Even if you don’t like Rangers you have to admit this is a stunning backdrop for a game of amateur football, and it got me thinking of the most scenic amateur parks ive ever played on.  In reverse order here are my top 5

5/ Ibrox Astro, Glasgow - As mentioned above it is a stunning place for a kickabout, literally across the road from Ibrox Stadium.

4/ Bught Park, Inverness -  Located on the banks of the River Ness beside the Ness Islands and surrounded by Highland Mountains.

3/ Posties Park, Dumbarton- Very near the clyde and facing the stunning Dumbarton Rock and Castle.

2/ Causewayhead Park, Stirling – Right under the Wallace Monument it was a cracking place for a game but unfortunately its no longer there as Stirling Council built Wallace high school over it.

1/ Battery Park, Greenock – The photo doesn’t do it justice, its right on the coast at the tip of the Scottish faultline. It has the whole package of sea, mountains and islands to distract you from your game.

So thats my top five but im sure there are better ones out there. Feel free to suggest a park and il add the photo into the comments.

Clyde Tunnel Graffiti

The council are painting the clyde cycle tunnel which means years if not decades of menshy’s will be gone forever. I took the liberty of filming the tunnel in its present state for everyone to enjoy forever.

furthermore here is a poem on the subject with kudos to the bold Angie :-)

I walked down the clyde tunnel and saw a wet paint sign

years of well made menshy’s will be coated over fine

if you think this is unjust you should surely try your luck

write to glasgow council and tell them GET TO FUCK!

T in the Park 2010

aka T in the Mud or Rain in the Park.

Despite the weather i had a really good weekend at Scotlands biggest music festival.  I did Friday to Monday camping, arriving via motorbike around 1pm on Friday afternoon. The bike allowed me to cut through miles of tail backs both to and from the festival. You may have seen me if you used the A977 Alloa/Kinross road.

Friday rained solidly til 4pm, then all of a sudden we had blazing sunshine for the rest of the day. I caught a glimpse of four acts: The Big Pink, Jamie T, Faithless and The Black eyed Peas.  The Peas gave me a great laugh repeatedly shouting “we love you Glasgow!” Unaware there are 4 Scottish cities much closer to Kinross than Glasgow.

Saturday was a wash out. My pop up tent didnt do the job and i was treated to a kind of chinese water torture. I was camped in Green 8 with my pals Tony, Grieg and Michelle. We decided to trek into Kinross to find somewhere dry to hang out and found a cracking wee bar called Jocks on the Kinross main street. A few jars later we were fit for the arena and on Saturday i saw Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Prodigy, Streophonics, Adam Beyer and a couple of others in passing. The Prodigy were the best act of the weekend and Jared Leto from Thirty seconds to Mars was the best showman. His patter was hilarious.

Saturday night was good in the campsite. We had got to know all our near neighbors by now and the banter was getting good. There seemed to be a younger crowd this year with alot of under 18′s and quite a few under 16′s. I didn’t see any bother and everyone around Green and Purple camp areas seemed friendly and up for a party. I heard there were two stabbings in the campsite and various fights but i didn’t see or hear of anything in my area.

One thing i noticed about the young folk at T is they are addicted to saying “Actually” and “Actual” some examples of this are “is that an actual tent?” and “where is the actual campsite?” also “im actually drunk!” and “my arms are actually aching!” Im not sure if its only central belt folk who talk like this or if its all of Scotland but it is an addiction that needs to be cured!

Anyway, Sunday was the best day weatherwise. A light drizzle in the morning then a sunny afternoon and evening. I saw Dizzee Rascal, Jay-Z, Madness, Groove Armada and a few Dj’s in the Slam tent. I thought Jay-Z and Dizzee Rascal were brilliant and im not even a hip-hop fan. I thought Madness were a big let down. They looked tired and uninterested. I left half way through their set and i thought they were a disappointing headline act.

I slept like a bear on Sunday night with exhaustion getting the better of me and now i have to motorbike home again to sunny Clydebank. Its a tiresome journey. The whole weekend is pretty tiring but well worth it.

My only complaints are about the prices of everything from the £200 tickets down to a portion of chips and cheese for £4. I havn’t had a night out in Glasgow so far this year so i could save for T. Also to get in and out the campsite you have to show your ticket and wristband. I saw a young lassie crying because she had lost her ticket and couldn’t get back in the campsite. Surely it should only require a wristband!

On the plus side Jay-Z, Eminem, The Prodigy, Black eyed Peas and Carl Cox are world class acts. Even if you don’t like them you have to admit its good that a Scottish festival can attract this calibre of artist.

I doubt il ever go camping again especially not if its wet, but i would definately go back to the T in the Park arena come rain, hail or shine.
